Artificial Intelligence can help us combat coronavirus
The pandemic has put a huge strain on hospitals and medical staff across Europe. It’s a race against time to get the virus under control, but thanks to EU-funded AI technology, lung damage caused by coronavirus can be quickly assessed, making diagnosis more precise and treatment more effective.
Using AI to fast and effectively diagnose COVID-19 in hospitals
The European Commission will invest in the use of Artificial Intelligence to speed up the diagnosis of COVID-19 and improve the future treatment of patients. A software developed to assist the work of medical staff by analysing images of pulmonary infections is introduced in 10 hospitals across Europe.
Viz.ai and Infervision Partner on AI Solution to Aid in Earlier Detection and Clinical Workup of Lung Cancer
SAN FRANCISCO – April 10, 2024 – Viz.ai, the leader in AI-powered disease detection and intelligent care coordination, today announced a partnership with Infervision, an AI medical technology company. The partnership will incorporate InferRead Lung CT.AI, Infervision’s FDA-cleared AI solution for lung nodule detection, into the Viz.ai ecosystem.
Infervision Receives FDA Clearance for the InferRead Lung CT.AI
Infervision announced U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(K) clearance of the InferRead Lung CT.AI product, which uses the state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and deep learning technology to automatically perform lung segmentation, along with accurately identifying and labeling nodules of different types. InferRead Lung CT.AI is designed to support concurrent reading and can aid radiologists in pulmonary nodule detection during the review of chest computed tomography (CT) scans, increasing accuracy and efficiency. With five years of international clinical use, Infervision's InferRead Lung CT.AI application is a robust and powerful tool to assist the radiologist.
Imaging COVID-19 — Radiology’s Evolving Role in Diagnosing and Managing the Coronavirus
Researchers also are looking at whether AI could be used to help make chest CTs more reliable in diagnosing the new coronavirus. Infervision, an international company with US headquarters in Philadelphia, has a coronavirus AI solution that has been in use at the center of the pandemic outbreak at Tongji Hospital in Wuhan and other sites in China, such as the Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen. Imaging departments are under tremendous pressure, says Matt (Yufeng) Deng, PhD, director of Infervision North America. “They are reading more than a thousand cases a day,” he says. Infervision’s AI is shortening diagnosis time for each case, and “each minute saved is critical to decrease the chance of cross-contamination at the hospital.”
Infervision's AI is in Italy Helping to Battle COVID-19
The Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital (UCBM) reached out to Infervision Europe and installed the Coronavirus AI system. For the pandemic, UCBM is identifying potential COVID-19 patients quickly and minimizing the chance of cross-infections. The screening and early diagnosis of the COVID-19 patients are becoming a priority and Infervision Europe responded to this request quickly and prepared an implementation plan.
